Better

I recently ran across a song by Jeremy Camp called, “Better.”

The chorus to this song says,

“If I never understand

Or ever see the promised land

If you don’t answer my questions

On this side of Heaven

I’m gonna trust the way You work

When you don’t rush to heal the hurt

My heart’s still Yours forever

Even if it never gets better”

There are so many seasons in our life when we truly seem to just hang on for the season to pass. We go through the school year and talk about how much we want it to be summer. Summer is too hot so we look forward to cooler weather, but with that comes school again. We are constantly looking forward to something that would be better.

The hard part becomes the things that never change. They never get better. Maybe it is a relationship or lack of, a medical diagnosis, or a job that wanes on day after day; but no matter how long you pray and trust God for change, nothing changes. In these moments, the only choice you have is to trust that God truly does know what He’s doing and that His plan is so much greater than the things we can see right now.  This is, in fact, the essence of Faith. “Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1 NASB

Listening to this song is a good opportunity to take inventory of your heart. Are you truly content with where God has you and what He has provided for you even if it never gets better?
