Hope in the Holidays

Back in October social media feeds were sprinkled with people beginning to put up their Christmas decorations. These posts all contained sentiments with the common thread of putting decorations up to find joy and cheer during a year that has lacked such feelings. While some held out until November for decorating, it is probably safe to say that after the events of 2020 everyone could do with a dose of festive.

The amazing thing is that of all the things individuals have looked to for relief from the stress of 2020, Christmas for what it truly means; is the closest anyone will ever get to real joy and happiness. The birth of Jesus brings relief from bondage for all generations. In Him, all the wrongs of the world from the beginning of time to the end of time are made right, even pandemics!

Colossians 1:15-20 says, “He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together and he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

May the joy of Jesus fill your tired heart. May you see your circumstances through freshly decorated eyes and find peace in knowing that the Baby in the manger holds all things together even in your life in 2020. Praise be to God for His faithfulness to us! Merry Christmas!
