We often say “God works in mysterious ways.” While this phrase is not specifically biblical, Isaiah captured the heart of it in Isaiah 55:8-9. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” We have seen this truth repeatedly in our Firm, but most poignantly when it comes to hiring staff. We could probably write a book on how God has woven the paths of our team together across the years.
One very special thread of this tapestry runs back more than 30 years and weaves across farming, VBS, youth group, marriage counselling, small group, child dedication and everything in between. The winding path led us to a need for additional staff and a lunch with a long-time family friend and pastor who needed a spot to serve. Tim Griffin joined our team five years ago. During his time here, Tim has served our staff and our clients with a life-changing level of grace. Tim has taught us what business as ministry physically looks like in a very grass-roots day to day way. He has loved us well and impacted us and our clients in ways we cannot even begin to put into words.
While our hearts desperately want him to be an accountant forever and stay here with us, we also know that God puts people in place for a season, and we do not get to choose when that season ends. Tim came to us at the end of 2025 and let us know that God was calling he and his amazing wife, Luette, to pursue a new ministry opportunity in Durham as the Pastor of Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Tim is graciously working two jobs during tax season to help us transition well, and God has thankfully provided a new staff member for us who will begin taking over Tim’s role.
Tim will officially leave us in April and be a full-time resident of Durham, NC. We are incredibly sad to see him go and there will never be another employee like him. However, we are eternally grateful for the impact he has had here and trusting that God will use him in even mightier ways to advance His kingdom in Durham. Please join us in prayer for Tim and his family in their new role and also for us as we figure out how to continue without him.
