RICKY OVERMAN, CPA

IMG_9187-2.jpg

NC CPA #14515

After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, Ricky and his wife, Barbara, settled in Rocky Mount to begin their life together and to start his career in public accounting.

He has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years. Ricky has been involved in various organizations in Rocky Mount, including the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce, the Breakfast Optimist Club, as well as his church, Servant’s Heart Fellowship.

But likely the height of memorable times has been being involved with his three children’s sporting, music and drama activities as a coach, helper and spectator. Ricky enjoys sports of almost any description and, while not as avidly as his wife, he also enjoys traveling.

Ricky’s calling in life is to help individuals and families with their home finances to help them gain freedom in this critical area.  On nearly every special occasion for which he is asked, Ricky’s favorite food of choice is lasagna.

Ricky's Testimony

I was raised going to church – maybe not there every time the doors were open, but we were there frequently. If proximity to Godly people could save you, I had a really good shot at it. The college years for me, spiritually, were years of wandering. All the enticements of college life and the world lured me away from any significant church attendance or spiritual activity.

Fortunately, early married life set the stage for “re-entry” into the church scene. I know that during my life, up to that point, I must have heard the gospel many, many times, but it never seemed to take a hold of me. My wife and I joined the church and got involved.

After some period of time, we took a class to learn how to share the gospel with others. One of the scripture verses we were to memorize was Ephesians 2:8-9 which says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”

I struggled with memorizing these verses for what seemed like weeks, and then it was like the light bulb turned on. I had heard with my ears about God’s saving grace, but I had never fully understood it and allowed the truth of Jesus’ perfect sacrifice to sink into my heart.

I look back on that time as the point where I surrendered my life and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. He has led me, carried me, directed me and given me peace beyond description.

If He is not your Lord and Savior, it would be my privilege to talk with you about God’s amazing grace. Please ask or email me or any of our staff.

"We talk at least every other month and he knows my business as well as I do. If he spots an inconsistency, he will immediately bring it to my attention. His office staff is personable, trustworthy and always willing to help me with any need. He is a man of faith and I would recommend his service to anyone looking for a true 'partner' to help them with their accounting needs."
